Family: People you love and with out whom life would suck, often blood related.
So my family is throwing my Nan a party as the past year has sucked pretty hard for her, being bedridden since falling down the stairs, discovering throat cancer and now not being able to eat food, so my well meaning aunts (her daughters) decide HAWAII!!!!
So this Sunday my small home will be infested with aunts, spouses and spawn. We're borrowing marquis and umbrellas just in case of rain and I offered to bake apple pie, since it's the only thing I baked which didn't totally suck.
Plus I didn't want to be the only one who didn't make a dish, being away for so long coz of uni and now an adult I can tell the family is waiting for me to step up and be a participating active family member rather than what I usually do.... stay in my room playing computer games. Don't get me wrong I love my family but after the initial 'hey, how are you?' I just sort of end up standing there, now to old to play with the children but not old enough to keep up with my aunts and cousins who chat history that the kids were kept out of.
(the conversations the adults had that you ignored when you were younger coz u were playing with a fire truck or what have you).
Anyway I figured I'd really present at the party, I'm making a play list on media player - thinking 1950's tunes, and Apple Pie so I can be like hey, I'm not useless hellllllllllloo????
So I'll be writing up the recipe and some photos, as always any tips on the perfect apple pie don't be afraid to comment!
